And What To Do When Your Excuses Become Self Sabotage

Nick Vujicic is an inspirational man with no legs or hands who make’s no excuses for being about his Life’s Mission. He just get’s on with what he’s here to do.

This morning I woke up feeling like crap. I attended a powerful conference over the weekend and hadn’t integrated it properly. So I was lying in bed curled up like an emotional ball of blahhhhhh! Very unusually for me as I mostly wake up in the morning feeling like a box of birds.

I got to thinking about how fear paralyzes people into excuses for taking that all important step forward to the next level of their mission and purpose. Making no excuses for how crap I felt, I dragged myself out of bed this morning and got on with the next step in my mission. I logged into good ole Facebook and came across this quote by Nick Vujicic.

“Fear is the biggest disability of all. It will paralyze you more than being in a wheelchair.” Nick Vujicic

Excuses Are One Of The Many Faces Of Fear

Fear can paralyze us in such insidious ways, it can even have us seduced by our excuses. Fear can manipulate our thinking, change our mind, shift our perspective, delay us from taking important actions, and ultimately lead us to make decisions that keep us playing small in the world.

So seductive can our excuses be we convince ourselves of their validity, then shrink back into playing small, living half a life. Sometimes even sabotaging the good that is being created on our timeline, by simply not taking action. Excuses, not taking action, letting fear keep us from playing small all act as self-sabotaging potentials that prevent us reaching mission accomplished.

I see this all the time in working with people to monetise their mission. Someone will ignite to their big mission in life – Get all excited – Know the next step they want to take and need to take – Get excited about that – Then BAMM!

Something happens and the mind begins thinking in a different direction, taking them away from all the good that is to be experienced on the current path they were on. See it all the time. Even see their mind make excuses for the excuses, convincing themselves that their excuse is real guidance. Insidious.

Excuses Are Tricks Of The Mind

Excuses are a ruse for not stepping up to our purpose. A ruse is an action intended to deceive someone; a trick.

Yeap, that good olde subconscious mind comfort zone kicks in and tricks us back into the safety zone of comfort. The mind will make up all manner of excuses to delay that step out of the comfort zone where the goodies are, or not take the step at all.

We live as if we have all the time in the world. People like Nick, and myself having beaten cancer twice now, know that there is no time like the present. Putting things off and delaying moving toward what you want, fulfilling your mission, leads to a life unfulfilled with regrets.

We take our lives for granted. We take today for granted. We take tomorrow for granted. We take the next year for granted. We think it’s going to be there for us and then we can get on with what we’re here to do.

Here’s the thing: When fear paralyzes us into excuses that seduce us into not taking action and playing small, it’s actually time to fulfil our Soul’s Purpose of expansion. Delaying answering that calling only means time will make the step harder and harder, and lessons bigger and bigger.

The Presence Of Fear Means Our Purpose Can Be Fulfilled

Whatever has triggered that fear to create the excuses is our Creative Spirit saying “Hey, it’s time to expand”.

Remember we all share the same Soul Purpose of expansion. It is our Life Purpose that details “How We Expand”.

If you’re in fear about taking an action you know in your heart of hearts is the right step to take, or you’re making excuses for not starting on something that will advance your purpose and mission, then use this pattern interrupt –

Say to yourself –

“It’s time to expand. I have the creative manifesting power of my Soul with me every step of the way as I expand.”

Then imagine yourself expanding beyond the excuse, beyond the fear, and into the great things that await you as you take that step without delay…

So the moral of the story is don’t put off what you know to be the right step for you today, till tomorrow. The fear will only be greater the more you resist, and the step will become harder.

The mere mention of the world expand will have you beginning to expand. Have a great day expanding into the next level of your purpose and mission.

I started out the day unusually feeling like crap. So I dragged myself out of bed and wrote my way into expansion. Writing is my primary expression modality in my Life Purpose. It’s the best way for me to expand. So by writing, I expanded a little more of fulfilling my purpose today.

I thank you for the opportunity for me to do that ?
